Single Parent Empty Nester Digital Nomad
Mission: To help empty-nest single parents in the USA relocate abroad for their first time.
Here’s my story:
I became a dad at age 27 in 2002. At that time, my only foreign travel experience was an overnight in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico on Cinco de Mayo in 1995.
I didn’t come back to Mexico for 21 years. In fact, I didn’t get my first passport until 2015 at age 40.
In September 2015, I spent 8 days solo in Belize (fka British Honduras).
A March 2016 cruise ship excursion in Ensenada, Baja California got me hooked on our southern neighbor, and I’ve been visiting Mexico annually since then (except during the pandemic).
I spent over 10 weeks in Mexico over the summer of 2024, with five of those as a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) student in Guadalajara and the other five weeks on vacation, passing through Puerto Vallarta, Nayarit, and Mazatlán.
My goal is to call Mexico home for most of the year while maintaining ties to my hometown of Tucson, Arizona and being there for my son who is now in his 20s.
Now I want to help other similarly situated empty nest single parents do the same — live abroad while being available to loved ones back home.
